Spread The Word

Many have asked me how to get sales and recruitment leads on a limited budget, so today I am writing about lists, groups, free ad sites and so forth, the guerrilla method to maximizing exposure with minimal cash investment. There of course is a lot of competition out there so your ad needs to be quite compelling to stand out among the throngs of "Who Wants to Be A Millionaire" opportunities; but more on ad copy on a later post.

Most of your major social networking sites have groups, lists or some type of organizations to attract like minded people. Yahoo, Google and AOL have groups and so do MySpace and of course, Facebook. Here is where the work comes in. First, you need to obtain an email address or account with the provider in whose groups you want to participate. This is an easy but time consuming free exercise; but like most things, you are trading time for money. Once you have secured your account, let's say with Yahoo, then you start looking up "Yahoo Groups." When on the general Yahoo Groups page, start your searching, this is the most time consuming of these activities. I would begin my search with "Business", then you will be given several sub-categories to review. I usually pick through home business, self employment, entrepreneur and other similar types. Once you pick a sub-catagory, like home business, then just start going through the listings. I usually pick groups that have over 100 members, for maximum exposure. Just click join where you want to.

Additionally, you may need to build a small profile on your account to join some lists, as some are more exclusive and require moderator approval, but most will just let you sign right up. I always recommend that you follow group rules for posting. Some groups are wide open and you can post all you want, others are restrictive on the amount of posts per day, week, etc. The ones called "free lists" are the least restrictive. I would not flood any one group too much, when you do this your name and products become known as obnoxious. I only post each group a max of once daily, and that's only for the high volume groups. I feel it is better to skip a day or two per group, again, so you don't become the pain in everyone's rear.

My biggest caveat is this, have fun but never in your excitement turn into a spammer. It is easy in one's excitement over their product or opportunity to get carried away, but that only make a bad name for you and your opportunity. So be excited, just use your common sense.

Next time I will go a little further into groups and then ad copy. Have a Successful Day!
